I've received hundreds of infected e-mails since using
this forum.

Generaly, they are like this:

Customer Assistance [[email protected]]
The VIRUS [WORM_SWEN.A] WAS DETECTED in the attachment
[INSTALLATION1.exe].
The virus infected attachment was deleted.

You're lucky, I've received thousands.
It has nothing to do with this or any other forum.

So have hundreds of other people. Some scum is harvesting EMail
addresses from many Usenet newsgroups, these included, to send these
virus-laden fraudulent messages. They are NOT sent by Microsoft, of
course, nor are they "from the newsgroup".

I believe the virus itself is extracting these addresses from the
message stores on infected machines.

I regularly get between 250 and 300 spams a day, sometimes more. I
hate to think what the overall internet traffic load is from these!
I've set my message rules to block/delete everything that has an
address other than those I know are OK. It just means I don't make new
friends easily!
