Visio 2000 does not function using Windows XP SP2?

Great. Everything went fine with the update of XP to SP2, until I tried to
run Visio 2000. While this used to run fine on XP, now it can't open any
existing files or create any new ones.

Visio says it wants to transmit an error report. I let it do that, then
Visio replies that there are updates. Oh, really? Actually, I found out
there used to be updates, but not anymore.

In an twist that only Kafka could love, I see that Microsoft dedicates a
lengthy page to explaining what problems are fixed by SR-1, but only after
saying it no longer distributes SR-1. Oh, and SR-1 is required for all the
security updates, etc.

Way to go, MS. Way to make security "Job #1."

So, I guess I have a few questions. First, has anyone encountered a similar
problem running Visio 2000 (on Windows XP with SP2), when Visio is installed
off the original installation disk with no security patches applied?

Is there another source for SR-1?

Is "SR-1" different from "SP1"?

Thank you for any ideas as to how I can get my software to work again,
rather than being forced to purchase an upgrade.
