Visio 2000 Freezes

We have a user on Windows XP (laptop) with Visio 2000
Technical edition. Visio opens ok but when he clicks on
an existing file to open or a template, Visio freezes. We
have removed & reinstalled Visio and also went to the
website to install a patch it indicated was necessary.
Any ideas? Thanks, Katherine
