Visio 2000 Gantt Chart: Skinner "day" boxes in timeline

I am showing the task times using months and days-of-the-month. The
daily columns are unnecessarily wide, thus spreading the task bars too
much. Is there a parameter with which to control the daily column
widths?

I guess I can generalize this question to how one can also make the
rows have less vertical padding so that one can see more in the same
area (without shrinking the view and font). As well, the row heights
don't increase when the task text occupies more than one line, so the
text tends to encroach across the row boundaries.
