These products all have the same core drawing capabilities and can share
files created in any edition. The difference is in the sets of shapes that
come with each edition.
- Standard has mostly business diagram shapes
- Technical has all the shapes from Standard plus engineering and
architecture shapes
- Professional has all the shapes from Standard plus networking and
software / database shapes
Note that in more recent versions of Visio (2002 & 2003) there are just two
editions. Technical and Professional were combined into a single edition
called Professional.
