Visio 2000 - Slow to Load

I have Vision 2000 SP1 running on my laptop. It worked fine until about a
month ago and now it takes 3-10 minutes for it to start up. I get to the
screen to choose a file or a drawing type quickly, then once I select either
an existing file or a new file to open, it gives a Wait message in the lower
right hand corner and takes a very long time to load.

Han anyone encountered this before? My IT people want to reload the
application, but I am remote and have not had a chance to get to a site to
let them do that. I am hoping to find an alternative answer.

if it was working and then you ran into problems, I'd start looking for
spyware....

I thought this was a good idea, so I ran Ad-aware last night. It is still
quite slow and took about 3.5 minutes to load a relatively small file
(<500KB).

My files load much faster when I shut down the (McAfee) virus scanner for a
few minutes. Dangerous, but it increases the speed dramatically.
