Mike

I recently ran office update and it said that the abovementioned patch was
available. I started the download process and had the visio cd in the drive
however the install failed. I tried this 3 other times with the same
results. I disabled my norton antivirus and internet security and still no
install.

any ideas as to the problem?

thx

I'm also waiting on any response on this issue. Was anyone on the
group successfull in installing this patch?

Wayne/Mike,

My installation in a bit non-standard as I have Access 2000 installed
in addition to the Full Office XP (including a second MSAccess and
Visio 2002). This causes the CDO security patch to also error (as
discussed in other postings). Do you also have some O2K components
installed that may be causing the problem? Maybe this is similar?

I also have this same problem. I can not get the patch to install. I
download it, insert my Visio 2002 cd, and then the installation starts...
in just a few seconds, it comes back with teh installation failed message.

Found what is probably confusing the installer:

By taking a look at:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822212

I found that the updated file is VBE6.DLL. I found 3 versions of this
file on my C drive: two old, one at the new version level. This is
probably confusing the installation process.

I backed up all of the old ones and copied the new one to all the old
locations. It didn't stop officeupdate from reporting KB822212 as
uninstalled, but I'm hoping that this should at least get the security
problem fixed

One more thing. Found how to get rid of the OfficeUpdate reporting
KB822212 as ininstalled. I needed to register the updated dll. I
went to the location of the DLL and typed (at the command prompt):

regsvr32 vbe6.dll
