visio 2002 to visio 2003

After a user has been upgraded to Visio 2003 and they open one of their old
Visio 2002 files the program asks to convert the old files so that they can
be used correctly by Visio 2003. The problem I am seeing is after the
conversion process and the file is re-saved it will no longer open, instead
as it tries to open the file the “Microsoft has encountered a problem and
needs to close†message appears. The problem is occurring on larger files (3
Megs or more.) As of yet I have been unable to open any of the larger
converted files. Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have installed all of the office updates.

between 2002 and 2003 there were many changes, especially if the user was
taking advantage of add-ins. the first thing to check would be if the
documents were just drawings or had some programming involved with them.
