is that a feature that is available in v2002 flowchart, or is it v2003 only?

I actually created an Org Chart in Visio 2003. I saved it as a 2002 Visio
file and then tried to open it in 2002 (I have Visio 2003 at home and 2002 at
work). When attempting to drag and drop a subordinate onto a manager, the
shape just sits on top of the manager. I tried to convert the org chart and
that didn't work (I had both the 2002 and 2003 files with me). Ultimately I
started the file over in 2002. However, I'll need to update this
periodically in 2003 and I'm concerned that version (in the literal sense)
control is going to create problems again. Any help is much appreciated.

what you are working with is an 'addin' piece of code for visio, which can
and does change between versions of visio. Best bet, create in one version
and stay there.
sorry,

I have to imagine there has to be a fix out here. Otherwise, corporations
would not want to upgrade thier programs to the newest and greatest version.
If you can't edit in the newer version, there is a serious problem.
Hopefully, someone out there has an answer. Unfortunately, in the meantime,
I've recreated the org charts in 2002, vs. 2003. Thanks for your response.

With Visio you can bring forward files creating with Visio's add-ons but you
cannot take them back to older versions. This is definitely confusing /
frustrating for users since some diagram types can be saved back without
problem and others cannot.

Organization Chart, Timeline and Calendar are examples of drawings that
depend on add-ons that are specific to each version of Visio. Meanwhile
flowcharts do not depend on add-ons and are thus more portable.
