Visio 2003 and "Custom Properties" from DB?

Does anyone know if you can pull the information in the "Custom
Properties" for an item on a diagram from a database? We are using
Visio 2003 for diagraming our infrastructure and I would like to be
able to pull this info (like serial #, RAM, CPU, etc.) from our
inventory DB (MS SQL DB) and have it populate into these properties. I
would just like a quick view of this info right from the Visio diagram
and not have to maintain the data in 2 seperate places. Thanks for

This will require a bit of code, but it is doable. You can create an on drop
event that will request a key and then use the key to retrieve information
from the database to populate the shape. Or there are many other scenarios.
