Anybody know the difference between the visual studio Visio architect version and the 2003 version? Can I upgrade to 2003?

they are different products v2003ea is really v2002 with the modeling and forward engineering. v2003pro is the follow-on to v2002pro with not forward engineering.

Thanks, can you get the forward engineering for 2003pro, it has a few features I need to use that are not in 2003ea. I tried having both installed but it has problems doing that.

Nope, the forward engineering is not available for 2003 pro. I have the same issues as you, but was able to install both versions on one machine. (In separate directories of course.) But the downside to that is you MUST leave the installer files cache for both versions (or have CD's at the ready when switching versions) and be sure you startup the proper version BEFORE opening a Visio file. (And put up with the inevitable delay in starting one version after another has made itself the "current" version.)

It's a royal P.I.T.A. and for the life of me I can not understand why there is still no "architect version" for the 2003 engine still.

That's great for when we are all ready to move to vs.net 2005, but what about the here and now? Does that mean we are never going to see an update of the current Visual Studio VISIO Architect version for VISIO 2003?

If not it means most of us, who won't be able to switch to Visual Studio 2005 till it's been out for a while will have to live with this issue? Seems very short sighted to me.
