Visio 2003 Displays inches in decimal, but I need fractions.

Can inches can only be displayed in decimal??? There is no
setting that I have found for fractions in inches
(actually there is but both "Inches" and "Inched Decimal"
settings display in decimal).

I want to draw a dimension line that displays 24 1/2", but
I can't seem to do it. I can do 24.5" and there is this
option for foot/inch (2' ½") in fractions. is this program
flaw or am I doing something wrong?

Visio 2003 has some outstanding good features; however there are some outstanding bad features too. You have discovered the same dilemma I have been dealing with since I upgraded from Visio Tech 4 to Visio 2003

Here is a couple more of the bad

(1) I'm having a major problem with the fill feature. When I add a black color text in the box I created, fill the box and print it, I get a white shadow in the background of the text; also upon printing, when I fill the box it will not fill completely when I add a line to the box; however, it does shows like the real thing on the screen before printing. In Visio Tech 4 this does not happen.

(2) In converting an Autocad floor plan .dwg, all of the dimension lines go from foot/factions to decimals, and I have to go in and change them all back one by one. On large building floor drawings this is very frustrating

Hi Jerry,

It sounds like your shape has a text background color specified, which is
independent from fill. You can remove this by going to Format > Text > Text
Block and set the Text Background to None.

Hello Mark

By default of the software your description is set at "None". I tried everything I could thing of, still to no avail. Therefore, if you could help me solve the problem it would be appreciated, I do a lot of presentations for my company and it's a feature I use all of the time. Please view this website address to see the simulated problem:

Have you tried Format -> Text -> Text Block -> Text background?

Just to rule out printer alignment, does this happen on other printers?

I see the issue now, thanks. I have encountered this myself, and I'm trying
to remember what the problem was. If I can dig something up here, I'll post
again. This may be specific to your configuration and printer model.
