Visio 2003 Enterprise Architects

When we download or install the Visio 2003 Enterprise
Architects version is is actuall from Office 10 and not
11.

If you go to the Visio homepage it only mentions standard
and professional for Visio 2003.

Is there a Windows Visio 2003 Enterprise Architect
edition or does Visio Professional take its place?

Hi Phillip,

The next Visio Enterprise Architect version will be released as part of
Visual Studio code name "Whidbey" (2004). The Enterprise Architect versions
are tied to the Visual Studio releases, rather than in synch with the Office
System release of Visio 2003. Sorry for the confusion. You can find more
information on the Microsoft Developer Tools Roadmap 2004-2005 page at:

Dick, any idea if there will be service packs in the interim specifically
for file compatibility issues, etc?

Hi Randall,

Do you have an issue with file compatibility in VEA? I'm not aware of an
issue, unless you are talking about the file version difference between
Visio 2003 and VEA (based on Visio 2002 SR-1) in Visual Studio 2003. The
next VEA (based on Visio 2003) will be released as part of the next Visual
Studio release.

Any service packs for Visio 2002 would likely also be applied to the
companion VEA. I hope this helps.

I'm referring to file version difference. I'd like to think that a service
pack for the current VEA would be released allowing it to open Visio 2003
files-- especially given the time until release of the next VS.
