[Visio 2003] Functionality of DirX/DirY in section Connection Poin

Hello,

from my understanding of the help file, DirX/DirY can be used to define the
direction in which a connector should connect to the respective connection
point. Now, if I set both to, say, 1 in, I would expect to have a diagonal
connection vector. However, I was not able to produce this.

My "case":

1. Circle Shape
2. 8 Connection points distributed around the circle geometry, 45 deg.
3. I would like to have curved connectors connect with 45 deg on the
connection points at position NorthWest, SouthWest, SouthEast, NorthEast.

I was not able to find a post regarding this. Hopefully, I do not miss
something.

I appreciate any help. Thanks for your time.

DirX and DirY seems to work to the connection of 2D shapes.
When the direction of connection point of one shape is inside
and that of another shape is outside, two shapes connect
each other and the DiirX and DirY affect the angel of connection.
