Visio 2003 installation almost gave me a heart attack

I purchased Visio 2003 upgrade today and tried installing it onto my
machine by inserting the CD into the drive, putting the product code key
in and hitting enter. Lo and behind I get a message that Visio
installation has to search for a previous copy to ensure eligibility for
installing. I knew I was eligible because I had Visio 2002 Standard on
the hard drive. But when I selected the drive and hit
enter...installation FAILED!! I almost had a heart attack. Luckily for
me...the solution appears to be to insert the Visio 2002 CD into the DVD
drive and hit enter to allow the verification process to complete
correctly. Can anybody out there tell me how to avoid this problem in
the future should I be forced to reinstall the product or is the one I
chose the right way to do it? Thanks in advance.

PS Microsoft, please fix the installation protocols for Visio. You've
got a great product here...but you're screwing with the install
verification procedure on this one. This didn't happen when I upgraded
Word, Excel and Access to the latest. Just though you should know.

One other thing: I'd love to see tighter integration with Word. Allowing
me to type up simple text into Visio should allow me the option to link
it to a document in Word. This way I can rearrange the thought process
in Visio and more clearly see how the document in Word should be spread
out. Just a thought.

A really great feature would be to generate EPD or FEN diagrams in Visio
for chess. That would be fantastic! I don't see why this can't be done.
Drag and drop a chess board onto the screen and drag and drop shapes of
pawns, rooks, knights, bishops and queens and kings. Viola! Then I can
save the templates of those FEN diagrams for pasting directly into my
favorite chess program for further review.

Maybe someone needs to take the initiative and create a new stencil... hint
hint.
