VISIO 2003 OBJECTS SCALED INCORRECTLY

An interesting phenomenon..

Just acquired visio 2003 standard... If I draw a line of
length 4 inches, then copy this line to the clipboard and
then paste the line into another application (any
application - adobe products, MS Office products etc..)
the length of the pasted line is 4.25 inches. TRY IT FOR
YOURSELF! Similarly, if I draw a box that is 2 inches
square in visio and paste that box into another
application the box size changes once again by as much as
0.25 inches. Why is this re-scaling happening????

The Page Setup, Scale settings for visio 2003 are set to
none (1:1). This is very frustrating as every image
needs to be manually adjusted.

Anyone have a suggestion for a fix to this annoying
problem..

I just did the following experiment:

I created a drawing with a 1 inch box, 2 inch box and a 3 inch box.
1. Printed from Visio, used a ruler and it measures fine
2. Copy/Paste into Word, Sizes are all correct. Print from Word Sizes
are correct using ruler
3. Paste Special as EMF, WMF and BMP into Word. BMP was correct, EMF was
correct, WMF was smaller than the rest (2 inch box was 1 15/16th inch).

So, from my tests it appears that WMF is the least accurate format when
pasted into Word. All other formats were accurate by my ruler.

Could you please confirm the version of Word you are
using? I continue to have no luck when pasting into word
or powerpoint.. the size of the box changes on screen
(looking at the word ruler and the powerpoint ruler, as
well sa when printed.

All other graphical applications that I use (adobe
products) do not experience this problem... it seems to
only happen with VISIO 2003.

Interesting that you had success with this excercise
right off the top.

Thanks for the update... I am using office XP.. likely an
incompatibility between the two.. but strange that it
would choose to rescale!

Interesting thing is that if I create a 1" box in visio
2003 set the page scale to 1"=1.19" and then capture the
box to the clipboard and paste into word-XP it is
embedded at the correct 1" size... If I leave the page
scale setting at 1:1 and perform the same operation, when
the box is pasted into Word-xp it is 1-3/16".

Have you tried using Paste Special? My data showed that WMF is the least
accurate format (not surprising since it's basically a 16 bit format). Try
pasting explicitly as EMF (a 32 bit format) and see if you get better
results.
