Larry,
I'm also an architect (principal) and have recently
upgraded to Visio 2003. I've been using Visio for over
six years, and have produced nearly a thousand drawings--
most of them highly detailed.
I upgraded to 2003 over a month ago and find no problems.
2003 Professional is basically the same as 2000 technical
with a few additions that we professionals use. All
the "old" templates and shapes are still there. My office
staff uses Autocad 2000, and I personally use Visio. For
the same reason as you. It's easier!
I would recommend a publication that is now available for
2003: "Microsoft Office Visio 2003 Inside Out." published
by Microsoft Press. You can buy it in the web at
amazon.com.
Good Luck.
