Visio 2003shapes on the side bar default to weird shades &color

When I select shapes from the side bar they default to weird shading and
colors.

I have been through the line, text, shadow formatting and reset those but
this still happen. Then I set up a stencil and then a template and when I
use them they revert to the same weird shading and colors when I pull them up
in the side bar, it's awful I am losing alot of time.

menu Tools -> Options -> Advanced
select the Color Settings button
select one of the stencil colour items and select Automatic.
