I am trying to install a single license version of Visio 2007 on to a Dell
Optiplex 745 Desktop PC. The PC is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and a
volume licensed version of Microsoft Office 2003. The installation begins,
but shortly thereafter, the installation shuts down and the Microsoft Error
Reporting dialog appears and I would send the error to Microsoft.
The Error message from the event log is as follows:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Office 12
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5000
Date: 8/14/2007
Time: 11:12:10 AM
User: N/A
Computer: PCSZ548
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 5000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Office 12 )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
office12setup, {10120000-0f00-0000-0000--0000000ff1ce}, 12.0.4518.1014, x,
0x80070103, office64ww.xml, x, x, NIL, NIL, NIL.
I tried to install Visio to another Dell Optiplex 745 that has the same
operating system and Office version and I received the same error.
I'm reluctant to try to install Visio on a completely different Dell model
PC such as an Optiplex 620 because I am afraid of incurring problems with the
licensing.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
