Visio 2007 startup path

Hi all,
I've reliably informed that Visio 2007 no longer supports the
execution of exe files in the startup file path. i.e as set in Options
| Advanced | File Paths.

a. is this true
b. if so, why
c. where is it documented
d. what is the alternative

My addon (in my sig which works just fine in Visio 2007 Beta and the
technical update ) uses this setting.
