We currently use the ARIS business modelling tool. We are about to evaluate
the Pega BPMS which uses Visio to provide its modelling environment. The Pega
environment is execution-oriented so I believe that their modelling
environment is not as rich as the ARIS environment.
For example in ARIS we use standard object libraries for General Ledger
accounts; Application Systems; Organisation Structure etc. Modellers copy an
object from a library instead of creating their own. We also use a
combination of models to represent the business (large bank) including
Balanced Scorecard Models, KPI Allocation Diagrams etc. We make use of
attributes to define process measures and use reports/scripts that manipulate
and analyse these attributes.
So my question is how does Visio support this sort of environment? I'm
interested in hearing from people that use Visio in a complex BPM type of
environment - Pega users would be even better.
