Visio and indexing

Paul Whittaker

I recently installed Visio 2003 Professional on a Windows XP PC, and when
searching for shapes for the first time, it asked me if I wanted to turn on
some sort of indexing, to which I said yes without thinking.

I think this is now conflicting with my f-secure antivirus, specifically
fssm32.exe, which is hogging all the CPU time.

My question is what did I turn on, and how do I turn it off.

Thanks
Paul

Visio's Shape Search feature uses an indexer for faster searching on your
local machine. The indexer looks for Visio stencil files (.VSS) and records
the shapes found in them. You can enable or disable the indexer by going to
Tools > Options > Shape Search, then selecting Visio Local Shapes in the
tree and clicking Properties.

Many thanks for that Mark.
