Visio and MS Word

J

Jim M.

When I insert a Visio drawing into a MS Word Document, it
looks fine, Then when I convert the Word Document
containing a Visio drawing into a PDF, the PDF is missing
Key parts of the Visio drawing and the Text is missing or
completely incorrect. I do know how to convert the Visio
Drawing directly to a PDF and it comes out fine using the
flatten layers option. But it does not work in WORD.

You might have more success if you save the Visio drawing
as a jpg then insert that jpg into the Word document.

What program are you using to generate the PDF?

Indeed - crucial question. An OLE embedded Visio drawing in Word renders
perfectly to PDF using Acrobat Distiller. Jaws PDF Creator does a
reasonable job also.

I believe Word 2002 (Office XP) has a PDF generator, but I didn't keep it
long enough - I reverted to Word 2000 because of the crap way Word 2002
handles graphics.

My latest entertainment - buy latest MS software, try it, throw hands in air
in frustration, rip it off and reinstall earlier version, and watch stack of
useless new software boxes pile up in the corner ......

Have MS got those twisted shambling bean-counting stone-squeezing
blood-sucking horrors writing software now, as well as dreaming - no,
nightmaring - up new ways to lose customers and aggravate people?

The original poster determined that the fault lay in the new Adobe Acrobat
6. Hopefully Adobe will straighten this one out soon.
