Visio - Can boxes be conditionally formatted?

P

Paul Sadd

I'm creating a organistation chart from a excel file. I would like to
automatically 'color' the panels according to the name in the box. For
example if the position is 'Vacant' I would like the box to be yellow. I know
this can be done manually but it's a huge organisation that changes regularly
so I would prefer as much automation as is possible.
Any ideas?

Hi Paul,

The Color by Value add-on can help here. Go to Tools > Add-ons > Run Add-on
and choose Color by Values. Then pick the custom property to depend on and
set the Shape Type to all shapes. Click on a color next to each value to
change it. If your data changes, you can update the coloring by
right-clicking on the legend and choosing Edit or Refresh.

Thanks for that Mark, it sounds like it will solve my problem. Unfortunately
I don't seem to have this Add-on in my system. Is is a free one? Should it be
there? If so I will get my IT Dept. to install it on my PC.

Thanks again.

I believe this add-on is available in Visio Professional but not Visio
Standard.
