Visio charts converting to pictures

I have a Word document with multiple visio flowcharts
embedded. Normally I can open the document and edit any of
the charts by right clicking on "Visio Object" and opening
the chart within the application. For some unknown reason,
all the charts have converted to a picture format and are
not easily edited. Could someone tell me how to undo this,
or at the very least, why this happened?
Thank you.

sounds like they may have been pasted as bitmaps rather than as visio
objects. Once that happens it can't be undone and you have to go back to the
originals.

Al,
I could accept that if it was just one or two of the
charts, but the entire document was changed (approx. 90
charts). And, if we go back to earlier revisions, all the
charts are Visio objects. It appears as though a global
replace happened automatically. Personally I think there
was a glitch in the application since we can't duplicate
it or undo it. But, thanks for the feedback.
