Visio docs trying to open in powerpoint

When I try to open a Visio document by double clicking on
it, Powerpoint tries to opent he document and I get an
error message. How do I change it so that visio will
automatically be the default for opening visio documents?

quick couple of questions, so that someone may be able to help. How was the
visio drawing pasted (is the image really a visio linked drawing)? Do you
have visio installed on the system that powerpoint is trying to open from?
What is the error?

The visio drawing I am trying to open was sent to me in
email, so the extension at the end of the doc is vsd. I
can save it to my machine and then open Visio and then
open the doc but I can not double click on it to open it
in visio. When I double click on it, my machine trys to
use Powerpoint to open it rather than visio. I do have
visio installed on my machine so that is why I am confused
as to why it is not opening the docs. The error message I
get states the Powerpoint can not open the type of doc I
am trying to open.... any suggestions

the file type has probably been wrongly applied to power point. go to
my computer => tools => folder options => file types and make sure vsd files
are associated with visio.
