I was using Visio as I have many times to update my database, but today it
wasn't working. It would tell me of changes I had not made between my model
and the database as well as not show me the changes I had made. (This is the
first time I have tried using Visio with my database since installing VS
2005).
In trying to remedy this situation I removed my database and started over
telling visio to just build my database from my model. It didn't work and
further more through a couple of different updates, all of a sudden I now get
an message when I try to Update or Generate the database from Visio:
"The currently selected Visio driver is not compatible with the data source."
I searched for a solution and found a potential resolution.
Patrick Tseng [MSFT] suggested to change the database driver being used by
Visio. I have tried all the ones available in my dialog under the "Preferred
Version" tab. 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 2000, and 2005. None of them allow me to
update or generate my database. I am out of options at this point other than
uninstall and reinstall products to try to get a proper combo on my machine.
