Visio - Excel Cannot reconnect with ??? error

Hello,

Issue: Can connect to worksheet ok and create data shapes. On reopening the
visio document no connection is made. It tries but fails with 'unable to
connect' '???'

I cannot do anything - however I can reconnect to the worksheet when
starting from scratch within the same document. Document just NEVER allows on
open connections
