visio execution extremely slow - from vbscript

given that you mentioned a server, it raises some
questions.
a.) are all three components on the same box, or different
boxes (the script, the diagram, and visio?
b.) if different systems, what is the connectivity and the
other platforms?
c.) is the script interpretive or compiled?
d.) you mentioned it runs slowly, compared to what?

Yes, all three components are on the same box running
Windows 2000 server. The visio version is Visio 2000
Professional.

My understanding is that the vbscript i am running is
interpretive and not compiled. How can I confirm that?

The same script runs in a few seconds on a team-mate's
machine whereas it takes almost 3min plus on my box

is your teammate also running on win2k server? when you
compare the two systems, are they identical (processor,
memory, etc.)? Is your server network attached (i.e. are
other users also using/logged on)?

actually, my teammate is running win 2k Professional
(i,e workstation!!)
The memory, processor etc. are almost the same.
My server is on the network, but nobody else uses it.

and how much memory/processor do you have in your server?
have you tried shutting down processes to see what might
be interfering? given that the 'same' application works
better in a non-timeshare systems vs a server, it would
seem that maybe you have already found what needs to be
examined (i.e. what in the server needs to be tuned).

i do see in the task manager that the visio.exe takes 80-
98% of cpu but I do not see what in the server is causing
this?!

I even tried upgrading to visio 2002...see the same issue.
Also, even the windows 2000 professional is a 'time-share
system' as i understand . I do not understand why u say
that the 2000 server is a 'time-share system' but the
windows 2000 professional is a 'non-time share system'.!

something in the Win2K server is causing this behavior -
it seems like....but I cant say that with a 100% surety.
