Visio Hyperlinks

Baboushka

Hi all,

I've got a problem with Visio 2003 Pro.

The problem is that when I write "..\..\search_results.php?
map_id=xxxx" as a Hyperlink, and I save as Webpage, the link is
transformed to this "..\search_results.php?map_id=xxxx"

And the link won't work.

What can I do?

Any help much appreciated.

James.

The problem most likely has to do with the hyperlink base for relative links,
which is different for links followed from a Visio drawing than it is for
links followed from saved web pages.

NOTE: the comments below assume you have not explicity set the "hyperlink
base" field in the drawing properties (File/Properties on the Visio menu).

When you follow links from Visio, the "base" for all relative links is the
folder in which the Visio drawing resides. But when you save as web page,
Visio creates a subfolder that contains all the html, graphics, xml,
javascript, etc. When you click a link in a saved web page, the subfolder is
the base -- i.e., everything is relative to the subfolder. If you saved the
web pages into the same folder as your Visio drawing, the subfolder is one
level deeper in the Windows directory hierarchy so this affects your relative
links.

The simplest solution is probably to save your web page one level *above*
the folder containing the Visio drawing.
