Visio pasting troubles

I am trying to paste a simple organization chart from visio into word. I've
tried paste special as well as saving it as a .gif and trying to import it as
a picture. Either way, when I get it to Word, it only shows the bottom line
of the graphic

Hi J.,

What version of Word, what version of Visio?

If you're pasting it into Word and the wrapping for the graphic is set to 'inline with text' check the text paragraph you're in to
see if the paragraph height is set to 'exactly' rather than 'single'.

I just today went through something similar. Straight paste of a Visio
group stuck a visio object in there, but it displayed as blank. Picture
insert of the gif file worked, however. When I tried Paste Special into
Word, it worked. It worked no matter which format I said to paste it in
(metafile, visio object, etc.) and also worked as a link. Damfino why,
but I'm using Paste Special from now on. (This was in Visio 07 and Word 07.)

Since the gif insert doesn't work, I don't think this has anything to do
with Visio.

I'd check out the .gif itself, opening it in some other program, like MS
Paint (which happens to be the default on my system) or dropping it into
a browser window. I found it to be a very large gif; I had to scroll in
Paint to see anything but white space. Obviously if there's nothing in
the gif but that bottom line, the problem isn't in Word. I'm guessing
that's your problem, but it's only a guess.

If the gif is OK, then something is probably odd with your settings in
Word for displaying / pasting / inserting graphics.

I'm having this exact problem today. I've tried pasting/embedding, etc, all
the things recommended at microsoft, nothing works. I can easily copy/paste
the viso chart to a blank Word page, but I can't insert it into my document.
Where do I find settings such as "inline with text" or the settings for
displaying/pasting/inserting?

Hi Linda,

What versions of Word and Visio are you using?

What are the steps you're using and what format are you saving the visio graphic in before using Insert=>Picture in Word?
