Visio Printer Page Size

I am using Visio 2007 to draw plans for a remodeling project. The required
drawing size is 18" x 24". I can make this my drawing size OK, but why can't
I set the printer page size to 18" x 24"? Is there something else I should be
doing instead?

That is an odd paper size. Does your printer support that? Visio will only
let you specify what can actually be printed out.

No, my printer won't do 18 x 24 (not my physical printer, anyway); I am going
to have to send this to Kinko's to be printed, probably as a PDF.

Drawings printed at this size are *required* for obtaining a building permit
in King County (see, for example,
http://www.metrokc.gov/ddes/acrobat/cib/9.pdf) so I assume that this is a
standard size. I believe it is a standard size for architectural blueprints;
I can find that out today.

The code describes 18 x 24 as a minimum size for architectural plans. That
is "conveniently" just larger than a standard "C"-size page at 17 x 22. So
they are forcing you to go with "D"-size pages 22 x 34.

Figures. That is why we sequestered the architects in a separate building
at engineering school. Just a bunch of non-conformists! :)
