Visio should support multi-colored connectors

Have the fill color be in the background on a connector. Then if the
connector is dashed, the fill color would appear in between the line color
dashes. Presto, you have connectors that work in wiring diagrams where the
wire color is 2 colors.

This suggestion is a partial fix but does not solve the problem. Most wire
color codes are two colors, background and stripe or band. The stripe needs
to be a color, not just black. Go to this link to view a representative
wiring diagram for an older automobile. Newer autos are much more
complicated, but the need remains. Also look at telecom wiring color codes.

"Color in line patterns

When you design a line pattern, apply black to the areas (line or fill) that
you want users to be able to change by choosing a new color in the Line
dialog box. Apply white or any other color to the areas you don't want users
to be able to change. Set the fill of your line pattern to None if you want
the fill area to be transparent when applied to a line. "

The custom line pattern template only allows one color for the line pattern.
The ""fill" option on the line properties is ignored.

So it appears that to create line patterns for wire colors, a separate
master must be created for each color combination, or at least for all the
colors that would appear as either "solid" or "stripe" on the wires. This
would require or allow the user to choose the second color. Either option is
tedious and time consuming. For my purpose, it may be easiest to create
bitmaps of the wire color patterns and create a custom line for each one.

Why couldn't Microsoft just enable "fill" properties on line patterns, then
this would be easy.

This is a good suggestion. There are probably several scenarios where more
than one line color would be useful, not just with wiring diagrams. Thanks!
