Visio Temp Viewer Does not Work

J

Jan Il

Hi all - WinME

I have received two Visio files to review, and I have been trying to find a
Visio viewer that I might be able to use to view them.
I have found and downloaded the vviewer.exe for the Visio viewer. Yet, when
I try to open a file (SigFuel.VSD), I get the PowerPoint, and I get the
following message; PowerPoint can't open the type of file represented by
C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\K9ANDOP2F\Celect Ing.VSD

I would truly appreciate it if someone could explain what is happening, and
if this is not the correct viewer for this type of file, where I might be
able to find a viewer in which I can open these files.

Thank you, and very best regards,
Jan :)

sounds like file types (under folder options) may be
linking VSD files incorrectly, i.e. not to visio.

I reinstalled the viewer, and was able to change the file type to Visio,
but, now I get a message that the file is an unsupported version for the
viewer to open. Is there perhaps an older version of the viewer that I might
try? I am assuming that the one I have is a newer version, and I'm not sure
what version the files are that I was sent. The sender has gone on vacation,
and I need to open these files to review the drawings while they are gone.

Any suggestions would truly be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time to assist with this issue. I really
appreciate it.

Best regards,
Jan :)

You did *install* the Viewr after downloading it,
right? :)

You might try right-clicking the VSD file in Windows
Explorer and choosing Open With. Then find the Visio
Viewer and see if that will open it. Sounds as if the
file association didn't get registered properly on your
computer.

You know, you might also try in PPT using Insert/Object
and navigating to the VSD file. You can at least see it
that way.
