visio template animation

I'm not that bright, although I try. I can put data in a spreadsheet cell
that changes from an outside source. Please point me towards information to
use the value in the cell to change the color or position of a shape in
visio. I'm trying to create automation displays. I really need it simple.

Hi BAW,

I'll try and give you some hints...

If you've got Visio Professional, I think you can at least get the
colors to change using the Color by Values add-on. This is located under:

Tools > Add-ons > Maps & Floorplans > Color by Values

Or, you can create a color-by-value data graphic in Visio 2007. Start with:

Data > Display Data on Shapes

You'll have to create a new Data Graphic using the window that shows up
on the right.

You can also do this via the ShapeSheet that is behind every Visio shape

I can change the color of an object by changing the value in the color cell
of the shape sheet. How can I change the value in the color cell of the
shapesheet with the value in an excel spread sheet? I used the "paste
special" command in excel, is there a similar command in Visio?
