Visio Text Direction

I have Visio 2007 and I cannot change the direction of the text i.e.,

I use the text tool, select the text and the change the text direction icon
on the tool bar disappears. I also do not see the regional tab as described
in other post, so I cannot add Asian text, "To display the Change Text
Direction tool, on the Tools menu, click Options, click the Regional tab,
and, in the Asian text list, click Show."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll have to cheat. Put a Return between each character so that each
character is on a seperate line within the text block. Set the alignment to
centered.

Use the shape's shapesheet, add a TextTransform section if one doesn't
already exist, then set the TxtWidth cell to 0mm.

I had thought of that, but the horizontal alignment is ignored and the text
is left justified (which is the same as centered or right justified on a
zero width text block.). The effect is noticeable if your text contains "i"s
and "w"s. If the justification is not an issue, your suggestion is faster
and does not have to be played with if the text is changed or you are using
fields. Mine does not easily work for fields.
