Visio Text not printing From embedded images in Word

D

DeWitt

Running XP and Office XP SP-2
When opening the Word documents, the Visoi images all apear correctly
withthe text included. Looking in Print Preview, they look correct with the
text included.
When printing them, the Visio flow charts print, but the text does not.

We have tried printing to different HP printers and reinstalling printer
drivers, different users logged in and different levels of access rights and
the same results from the same PCs. We do have some PCs that the documents
print correctly from, but have not been able to narrow down the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on what to trouble shoot or
look at to resolve this issue?

Printer problems usually breakdown into tow standard fixes.

1) Are you using the latest printer drivers - There may be new printer
drivers on the web.
2) Have you downloaded the latest Service Pack for Visio - V2003 has had SPs
to fix printing problems.

We tried downloading the latest printer drivers, we keep them pretty current
on our network. This did not resolve the issue. The same printer drivers are
working fine on a different PC.

Visio patches wont help users print embedded Visio images in word documents
for users that don't have Visio installed. I will try this for those who
have Visio, but if this fixes them, it is only a partial fix for the overall
problem.

Thank you for the feedback

Let me know how you make out. I had this problem also when using Visio last
year. The only thing that worked for me was printing to a color printer. I
tried everyone and looked everywhere for a solution.

I think this is a major problem.

Installing Service pack 2 for Visio resolved the issue on the PCs that
actually have Visio installed. The PCs that do not have Visio installed that
have this problem still have the same problem even if the documents are
recreated with Visio SP2.

Need to do a little more testing, but it looks like installing color printer
drivers for the closest compatible color printer to the black and white
printer that is captured might be providing a workaround to get these
documents to print correctly.

The color printer driver worked fine from PCs that it already printed
correctly with the standard driver. From the PCs that had a problem withthe
text not printing, installing the color driver printed the text, but it also
filled all the flowchart bubbles in solid black so you could not read them
anyway.
