Unfortunately, the Visio timeline drawing type using Windows OS time and
date functionality which only goes back to Jan 1 1900.
You can try to "fake it out using" similar dates or just draw it manually.

I am trying to use visio in my classroom for historical
timelines and can not put the date back past 1900. Is it
possible to use dates before 1900? A dialog box comes up
and will show a monthly calendar that you can scroll back
but it wont stay. Thanks!
