Visio - Update of directory cashe on startup

Rob Crisler

I have just installed Visio 2002 SR-1 on my XP Home
edition PC. Every time I start Visio I get the "Please
wait while Visio updates its directory cashe" dialog. I
remember from having installed Visio previously on
another PC that Visio only needs to do this once, not
every time it is started, after a change has been made to
the default settings "File Paths" tab in Tools/Options
dialog. Does anyone know what setting I am missing to
allow Visio to save or remember the directory cashe? Any
help would be appreciated. -Rob

Just to let you all know, the problem was that the
Visio.bin file did not exist. Don't know why it did not
get created but without the Visio.bin file Visio will
have to recreate the directory cache each time it is
started, as this is some of the information stored in
the .bin file. I re-installed Visio and the Visio.bin
file was created and the problem is cured.
Later - Rob
