visio viewer with SP2

Our organization is upgrading to SP2 and once upgraded a user can no longer
open a hyperlinked file in a new IE window with Viewer. The new IE window
comes up with 'IE cannot link to web page". The odd thing here, and the clue
I think, is that you can cut and paste the exact address from the failed IE
window into a new IE window and it will open the file just fine. Any help
sincerely appreciated, John

It looks like your in trouble if you want to open files in new windows with
SP2. This is what MicroSoft says, bummer,..:

"This is Damodar from Microsoft Customer Support Services.
I tried to contact you but was unable to touch base. I worked further on
this issue and was able to reproduce the issue as mentioned by you.
I could not find any resolution or work around for this issue at this point
in time. Also I would like to let you know that the issue is related entirely
with the Visio Viewer and its interaction with Windows XP SP2.
At this point in time I can only escalate this issue but won’t be able to
give you an assurance on the resolution because this is related to Visio
Viewer and ideally we do not provide hot fixes for Visio Viewer, for that
matter any viewers unless there is a major security breach."

This was a critical feature in my implementation of Visio and now I'm hosed
after making a big investment of time and resources. John
