Visio WBS Modeler and label wizard

Hi all,

The WBS Modler (free add-in) refers to a "Label Wizard" that can be used to
assign various labels to a shape type. I see where the "Label Wizard" when
you right-click on a shape. Unfortunalet is's grayed out. I'm using Visio
2003 so maybe this is a Visio 2007 feature? I can't find anything about it
other than in the WBS Modeler documentation. Does anybody know anything about
this?

Thanks, Chuck

The Label Wizard is a Visio Pro (2003 or 2007 feature (I think):
To enable, select the page, then change the "Allow element text edit" to
TRUE
Just be careful not to overtype your element text, therwise you will have to
run the label wizard again.

Hi David,
Thanks as this opened up the wizard from being grayed out. I changed the
setting as shown below. But when I click on "Label Wiza"d, nothing happens. I
do not get the pop-up as shown in the documentation. I must be missing
something else.

Thanks, Chuck

It uses the FMLabel addon which is part of Visio Professional, so if you
only have Standard, then you would have to manually edit the labels.

If you want to apply the label changes to all instances in the document,
then you should edit the document stencil master "Element"

I hope that you are not trying to display more than 24 characters for the
element name because I went to great trouble to truncate the Name to
immitate the Network Diagram in Project! :)

Hi David,
Thank you as that answers the question; I have Visio Standard. What I wanted
to do was to have my Milestone tasks "automatically" appear in a different
color element from the level 1 children. It seemed that I could do it this
way but I will try the element in the stencil.

And no, I was not trying to write a novel in the stencil. I have a WBS
dictionary that does all that. Thanks again.

Chuck
