Visio XML

Hello,

I can't seem to find any examples or tutorials on how to create a simple
flowchart by directly writing to XML (Visio VDX).

I have downloaded the Visio SDK which tells you about every XML element, but
lacks a couple of good examples on linking all the elements together to
create Visio flows.

I saw a fantastic example for using VBA at
http://www.wanderkind.com/visio/2006/09/create-visio-flowcharts.html, which
would be great, if only I knew how to do this in XML.

well, you might consider drawing a flow chart, save as xml, and then examine
the file.

(reverse engineering isn't always bad)

Thanks Al,

Creating two boxes and connecting them generates a 3200+ line XML file!

I am hoping there is enough experience on this board to help me (and others)
learn the proper ways of creating a valid .xml file without starting from
scratch.

Chris, aka wanderkid, did a presentation on using XML with Visio at this
year's Visio Conference, hopefully he will chime back in with some
information.
What you need to create a drawing is far less than what you will see in the
vdx.
