i purchased a copy of visio 2000 about 3 years ago, and i
have just purchased a new dell with windows xp and it
will not let me download visio. it keeps asking me for a
serial number for the program that i,m trying to up date.
When this software was purchased it was the professional
edtion and it cost about $300 new so I know that this is
not just an upgrade. Can anybody help me?
Thanks, B.

Hi Brady, I had a similar experience. I thought that there was no answer,
however for one reason that I do not understand after re-formatting my HD I
was able to do an installation.

NO DO NOT re-format, I am suggesting that you look for the Visio key in your
Register, delete the Visio key ONLY, then try a fresh installation of Visio.

Since I am NOT a computer expert, ask for help from someone who knows how to
do this, but even before you try, since you have Win XP create a restore
point just in case.

I hope this helps.

The serial number should be on a sticker on the registration card or the CD
case. If you can not find the serial number and did register contact
Microsoft and they will tell you you're serial number. If you did not
register, contact Microsoft and they will let you know how to prove that you
own a copy so you can obtain a replacement serial number.
