visio2007: Linked workbook disappears..?

hi,

I have been using the 'Link Data To Shapes" feature in Visio 2007 for
the past few months to link Excel workbook data into a visio diagram.
Earlier today I ran into an issue with a linked Excel workbook that
disappears from my diagram after saving and reopening it. When I try
the 'Refresh Data' feature, the data source is listed but Visio pops
up a window with ??? error and 'unable to connect'.

The Excel workbook has 109 rows and 15 columns worth of data.

If I select a very small range, (ie: 10rows), during the data import,
I have no problems, (ie: the linked data exists after reopening the
Visio diagram). Selecting any larger row amount and the data source
disappears from the Visio document..

I can open the workbook in Excel with no problems.

Has anyone else had similar issue(s)? Any suggestions?

let me know
thanks.

I regularly connect to tables larger than that with no problems. Is there
the chance that one of the columns in the worksheets has either changed
format or had data deleted (i.e. attempting to read a null field)?

I have narrowed the issue down to one row of data. If I cut and paste
the row to a different part of the workbook, the workbook shows up aok
in Visio.
If I leave the original layout but remove all formats from the one
row, Visio won't show the workbook. I have to delete the row for it to
work. Regenerating the data does not resolve the issue. weird..
