In the previous Visio 2000, there was built in macro and an excel template
that allowed you to create a hierarchy of parent child relationships and node
names that when you ran the macro, it would create something like a tree
structure, you then had to work on the layout, but at least it constructed a
complex tree structure. That macro is now gone in 2003. The only thing left
is the brainstorming outline that clearly isn't meant for importing or
exporting, as much as there are menu items to that effect. The XML schema
may be useful to some people, but even being somewhat technical, there is no
way that many business people with tech saavy could interpret and use it.
How about a very straight forward import and export to a hierarchy form
(like word creates) or go back to the parent child construct that used to
exist. You're sending me to Mindmapper by having made import / export almost
impossible.
Let me know if there is any opportunity to improve this or re release the
Visio macro that allow the construction of a complex map with a worksheet
that describes the 'to' and 'from' for each node described on the other excel
worksheet.
