Vista Import of .PST File (from recovered data)

I need help

1. I inadvertantly deleted from my XP machine my .pst files.
2. I have had them recovered on DVD
3. I have tried to import them in Vista's Outlook (not express)
4. Get error message that it is not a PST File (but it has the pst file
extension)
5. The Dell tech says it must be corrupt.

Query - Is the file possible corrupt and if so how do I fix it?

If this is a Microsoft system problem - how do solve it

If you have moved the PST from the DVD to your hard drive and have removed
the read-only attribute, then the Dell tech is correct. The file was most
likely corrupted by the method you used to store it on DVD in the first
place.

Possibly by purchasing a PST recovery program. There are plenty, but you
can find one here: http://www.officerecovery.com/

Thanks - do you think that a "Geek Squad" would have the facilities to
perform such a task?

Call first and ask if they can recover a PST. You'd pay less, though, by
buying a PST recovery program yourself.
