Vista & Office 2003 install problem - The operating system is notpresently configured to run this ap

I recently purchased a new machine. After installing SP1 of Vista I installed
Office 2003 (professional). I downloaded SP3 and 2 security patches for Office.
After successfully installing Office I installed SP3 and the 2 security
patches. Every install was successful with no problems.

When I try to open any of the office applications I immediately get a pop up
error that says:

The operating system is not presently configured to run this application.

I'm running 64 bit Vista Ultimate and can't seem to find any solution to this
problem in all the other newsgroups, searching Microsoft support, or by doing
general internet searching.

Help!!!
