(See subject for software envirionment, no AV installed, no third-party
firewall installed, Vista firewall enabled with logging for both blocked and
allowed traffic)
I have set up access to my non-Microsoft POP3 server exactly as on a working
system (XP Pro with Outlook 2003). However, when I check mail I receive the
following error:
Task '<pop3-email-addr> - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
The firewall log shows no traffic outbound to the POP3 mail server was
attempted (either blocked or allowed).
This problem does NOT appear when using the simple "Windows Mail" client on
the same Vista system (i.e. similar to the old "Outlook Express" client).
That one can read mail from the same POP3 server fine (configured the same
way), so it must be something to do with Outlook 2007.
Is this a known bug?
