I have a new laptop I cannot use because most of the program I have been
installing and need to do my work do not work with Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
(Sonicwall and Cisco VPN just to name a few) I would like to go to either
Vista 32 bit or XP Pro since I know that they do have version that are
compatible with other version of Vista. The 64 bit version is the problem. HP
customer support told me that I was on my own with this issue which really
sucks but they said that maybe Microsoft might have a suggestion. So my
question is would it be possible to get another operating system for my
laptop free of charge since the version I have is not compatible with too
many other software program I am using. When I bought this new laptop I had
no idea that I would end up with so much trouble with Vista Ultimate. I
though that if I get the latest that is out there on the market that I would
be good for a while but what a shock. I just want to be able to use my new
laptop and I am told that WIndows Vista Ultimate 64 bit is the problem. So
what can Microsoft do or suggest I do to make this work without costing me an
arm and a leg.

Regrettably this question has nothing to do with the subject of this
newsgroup.

You certainly need to find a more appropriate newsgroup and it sounds
actually as though you may need the assistance of Microsoft support
regarding the associated licensing issues.

Most companies have a return policy. If you are within your return policy it
may be cheaper for you to return the machine and puchase a 32 bit machine.
