Vista won't read my office cd

I am attempting to install Office 2003 pro but Vista won't even read the cd.
I have 2, the 2nd with contact manager and it reads that one fine but
obviously says it can't install contact manager without Outlook but when I
put the other cd in, it reads nothing. have tried to right click and open and
it shows zero items. I'm very confused as everything I read in newsgroups
says Office 2003 will run with Vista.

Is the CD damaged? Scratches, gooey fingerprints etc.?

Might the other CD actually be a DVD?

No, there is nothing wrong with the cd, it's in mint shape and they are both
cd's.

Yes, I just installed it today in another laptop so I've decided to take the
other one back, Vista sucks, won't recommend it to anyone, can't run any of
the programs I had on old laptop.
